On offer is a beautifully preserved time capsule and example of the highly sought after and facelifted 300SL Roadster (W107) with a silky smooth yet raspy 3L, fuel injected straight six (M103) engine with only 66000km from new. From 1986 onwards the W107 benefited from a face lift and mechanical improvements which added the front spoiler air dam, flush plastic door handles, lighter 15” alloy wheel and revised front bumper and inner fender liners were also added. The seats were upgraded to include lateral support similar to the 124 model and the radio was replaced with the Bekker Grand Prix with a larger display indicator. On the mechanical front, the face-lifted model benefited from a revised suspension upgrade on the front and rear with a different spring rate, limited slip differential, four piston brake callipers on the front with a highly durable diaphragm brake booster and an all new lighter and improved alloy master cylinder. The car was delivered new on the 15th of December 1988 as a registered South African export model and painted in Mother of Pearl Grey Metallic over Alpaca Grey leather. Options listed on the build sheet show Cyclone air filter, cruise control, electrically adjustable side mirrors, Automatic antenna and Bekker radio, rear seats, Behr air conditioning, heat insulating glass all round and asymmetrical head lamps. The paintwork on the car has received a refresh within the last year and brand new navy blue soft top hood has been installed. the owners handbook, spare keys and service history are all present and we can determine that 6 care takers throughout its 32 year lifespan have taken great care and pride. You will not find a better preserved example soon.
